In the second quarter of 2025, the navigation and maps app landscape in Portugal showed intriguing trends across the top five applications on a unified platform. Here’s a breakdown of their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw fluctuating weekly downloads, beginning at approximately 12.8K and peaking at 18.5K by the end of June. Despite the ups and downs, weekly active users remained strong, ranging from 1.3M to 1.4M throughout the quarter.
Via Verde experienced a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at 7.1K and climbing to nearly 10K. Active users also showed a positive trend, growing from 139K to 164K by the quarter’s end.
For Google Maps Go, weekly downloads began at 6.1K and rose to 8.2K, while active user numbers remained robust, fluctuating between 4.5M and 5M.
Google Earth maintained relatively stable download numbers, hovering around 5K, with a slight increase towards the end of the quarter. Active users showed a slight dip mid-quarter but ended on a high note, reaching over 85K.
Lastly, Map Drive - Radar, Speedometer demonstrated a varied download pattern, starting at 3.4K and concluding with 1.7K. Active users grew steadily, peaking at over 10K in early June.
